Hi, I'm Joe

I am a software engineer and ML researcher. I previously started a company called Womp Labs working on dataset selection, data attribution and explainable AI. Before that, I was working on detecting anomalous network traffic. I also spent some time training geolocation models.

Mostly I like staring at log-log plots in wandb :)

Some things I'm doing now:

• Efficient data attribution with friends at UIUC and CMU: first paper out!
• Independent projects around scalable dataset selection.
• Training ever better geolocation models that power geospy.ai.

Some things I have done in the past:

• Trained really good geolocation models.
• Made some progress on data attribution.
• Spoke nervously in front of a lot of people.

Some things I like to do:

• Play basketball, golf, soccer, football, chess, poker and pretty much anything else where there is a winner.
• Ski
• Hike
• Play piano, want to re-learn guitar
